Pompano Beach unveils major construction project for McNab Road and bridge replacement set to begin in July 2025

Pompano Beach, Florida – The City of Pompano Beach is set to begin a major infrastructure project on July 14, 2025, aimed at improving McNab Road and its bridge. The McNab Road Streetscape Improvement and Bridge Replacement Project will transform a key east-west corridor, enhancing both safety and connectivity for residents and visitors. The project is made possible by the Go Bond initiative, which was supported by voters in Pompano Beach and will modernize a critical part of the city’s infrastructure.

“This is a project that the voters supported through the Go Bond initiative because it is essential for the future of our City,” said Mayor Rex Hardin. The Mayor emphasized that although the construction phase may cause some temporary disruption, the end result will bring lasting benefits to the community. “While some patience will be required during construction, the outcome will create transformative benefits for Pompano Beach,” Hardin added.

McNab Road has long been an important east-west route in the city, linking neighborhoods, schools, businesses, and key community areas. However, the existing bridge, which was originally built in 1959, has become outdated and no longer meets the needs of the growing population. This project, prioritized under the Go Bond initiative, will replace the bridge and revamp the surrounding streetscape to ensure the corridor can accommodate future growth and improve accessibility for everyone who relies on it.

The Pompano Beach city officials are dedicated to minimizing the impact of the construction on residents and local businesses. Mayor Hardin reassured the community that the city is working diligently to keep everyone informed throughout the process. “We understand that construction can be disruptive, and we have been proactively communicating with HOAs and businesses that will be affected. We are dedicated to minimizing impacts and keeping everyone affected by this project informed every step of the way,” Hardin said.

The McNab Road project will not only replace the bridge but will also improve safety features, making it easier and safer for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers. By modernizing the infrastructure, the city is laying the foundation for better connectivity and mobility in the area. The project will also incorporate improved landscaping and streetscape features, providing a more aesthetically pleasing and functional corridor for all who use it.
