Broward County, Florida – Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) is inviting families to participate in the School Choice application process for the 2026/27 school year, with the open enrollment period beginning on Monday, November 3, 2025, at 8 a.m. and running through Friday, December 19, 2025. This year’s application window opens earlier than in previous years, giving families more time to explore options and make informed decisions about their children’s education.

During the School Choice window, parents and guardians can apply for a variety of opportunities, including magnet programs, Nova schools, and school reassignments that allow students to attend schools outside their assigned boundaries. BCPS emphasizes that the program is designed to provide families with flexible options that match students’ interests and learning needs, helping prepare them for college, careers, and life.

“BCPS is a national leader in offering innovative, personalized learning programs designed to spark students’ interests and prepare them for success in college, careers and life,” said a BCPS representative. “Get School Choice Ready! Families can explore their School Choice options and review instructions for the new application process by visiting browardschools.com/schoolchoice.”

To apply, families must have a BCPS student number. For students who are new to the district for the 2026/27 school year, parents or guardians can request a student number at any BCPS school. Required documentation includes a government-issued photo ID and the child’s birth certificate for verification. These steps ensure that each applicant is properly registered and eligible to participate in the School Choice process.

BCPS provides support and guidance throughout the application period. Families with questions or needing assistance can contact the Office of School Choice at 754-321-2480 or email [email protected]. The district encourages parents and guardians to review all available programs and application instructions in advance to ensure a smooth and timely submission.

School Choice in Broward County is designed to expand educational opportunities by allowing students to attend schools that align with their academic interests, talents, and career aspirations. Programs range from specialized magnet curricula to unique Nova school experiences, all aimed at fostering personalized learning and student engagement.

By opening the application window earlier this year, BCPS hopes families will have sufficient time to research programs, ask questions, and make decisions that best meet the needs of their children. With thousands of students expected to apply, careful planning and early submission are encouraged to increase the likelihood of securing placement in preferred programs.
