Miami, Florida – Spreading holiday joy took on a special meaning this year at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center’s alex’s place, as AutoNation Associates teamed up with the Dolphins Cancer Challenge (DCC) to bring gifts, comfort, and cheer to pediatric, adolescent, and young adult patients facing cancer and blood diseases. The December 18 event in Miami combined philanthropy, sports, and community spirit, leaving smiles on the faces of children, teens, and their families during a season often fraught with challenges.

Joining AutoNation Associates at the hospital were Miami Dolphins stars Patrick Paul, Malik Washington, and Daniel Brunskill, along with members of the Dolphins Cheerleaders. Together, they helped deliver toys, gifts, and Totes for Hope comfort bags to patients and their families, embodying a season of giving and support for those navigating difficult treatments. For the young patients, the presence of professional athletes added an extra layer of excitement, with players participating in games, challenges, and photo opportunities that created memorable moments beyond the hospital walls.

“At AutoNation, we are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with Dolphins Cancer Challenge in support of the pediatric and young adult patients and their families at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center’s alex’s place,” said Benny Dominguez, South Florida market president for AutoNation. “Through DRV PNK, AutoNation has raised and donated more than $45 million to advance lifesaving research and patient care and create moments like today, where our Associates can help brighten the holidays for families going through a tough time.”

DRV PNK, AutoNation’s year-round commitment to driving out cancer, has become the cornerstone of the company’s philanthropic impact. By funding research, essential patient programs, and community outreach, DRV PNK demonstrates a commitment not just to corporate social responsibility but to tangible improvements in the lives of those affected by cancer. The holiday visit to alex’s place represents an extension of that mission, connecting corporate generosity directly to the patients who benefit most from compassion and support.

alex’s place is recognized as a state-of-the-art facility providing comprehensive care for pediatric and young adult cancer patients. From treatment for blood disorders to survivorship programs, the center offers holistic support that addresses both medical and emotional needs. The holiday event highlighted the importance of community partnerships in enhancing the patient experience, showing how organizations like AutoNation and DCC can make a meaningful difference.

“We are proud to partner with AutoNation to bring holiday cheer to the kids at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center’s alex’s place,” said Javier Sanchez, executive director of Dolphins Cancer Challenge. “This event is one of our favorite traditions of the season, and having our Dolphins players here to share these moments makes it even more special as we are reminded of the importance of giving back and spreading joy during the holiday season.”

Throughout the event, Dolphins players and cheerleaders engaged directly with the children, helping them select gifts, posing for photos, and even racing some of the young patients in friendly competitions. These interactions went beyond simple entertainment—they fostered a sense of normalcy, fun, and excitement at a time when hospital stays can feel isolating or stressful.

The Dolphins Cancer Challenge, founded in 2010, has grown into the largest fundraiser in the NFL, raising nearly $100 million to support lifesaving research at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. The initiative combines athletic events, community engagement, and ongoing fundraising to provide sustained support for patients and their families. DCC XVI is scheduled for February 28, 2026, at the Miami International Autodrome facilities at Hard Rock Stadium, continuing the tradition of combining sport with service.

For AutoNation, the partnership with DCC reinforces a broader commitment to cancer-related causes. As one of the largest automotive retailers in the U.S., AutoNation leverages its nationwide network and corporate reach to make a tangible difference in communities. Beyond the holiday gift delivery, the DRV PNK initiative has raised over $45 million, funding research, patient care, and programs designed to support those affected by cancer.

The December 18 event was more than a holiday celebration—it was a demonstration of how corporate and community partnerships can positively impact lives. By connecting professional athletes, corporate associates, and hospital staff, the initiative provided joy, hope, and comfort to children and young adults at a critical time. For the patients, the day offered moments of laughter and excitement, and for the volunteers, it reinforced the meaningful impact of giving back to the community.

As the holidays progress and the year winds down, AutoNation and Dolphins Cancer Challenge are already looking ahead to continued support for Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and its patients. Through initiatives like DRV PNK and the DCC, both organizations are committed to blending philanthropy, community engagement, and awareness to make a lasting difference in the fight against cancer.

With every toy delivered, comfort bag handed out, and smile shared, the December event at alex’s place embodied the spirit of the season—bringing joy, hope, and encouragement to those who need it most while strengthening the bonds between community, corporate partners, and sports organizations in South Florida.
