More than 500 families and community members to attend the first BCPS Parent AI Symposium
Broward County, Florida – More than 500 parents, community members, educators and school leaders are set to gather this week for Broward County Public Schools’ inaugural Parent AI Symposium, a first-of-its-kind event designed to help families better understand the growing role of artificial intelligence in education and everyday life.
Taking place on Friday, June 5, at Nova Middle School and Nova High School in Davie, the daylong symposium reflects the district’s expanding efforts to prepare students and families for a future increasingly shaped by emerging technologies. Organizers say the event has generated significant interest, with registration reaching full capacity well ahead of the scheduled date.
Unlike traditional presentations where attendees simply observe demonstrations, the symposium is intended to be highly interactive. Participants are encouraged to bring laptops or tablets and actively engage with the technology through guided activities and hands-on learning opportunities. The goal is to move beyond basic introductions and give families practical experience with tools that are becoming more common in classrooms, workplaces and daily routines.

The event is being organized by Broward County Public Schools’ Office of Academics and will bring together school administrators, district AI liaisons, Career and Technical Education teachers, families and community stakeholders. Throughout the day, attendees will have opportunities to explore how artificial intelligence is influencing teaching and learning, while also gaining insight into how students can use these technologies responsibly and effectively.
District leaders view the symposium as an important step toward strengthening digital literacy among families. As artificial intelligence continues to evolve at a rapid pace, educators believe that parents play a critical role in helping students navigate new technologies and understand both their opportunities and challenges.
The symposium is designed to serve a wide range of participants, from those with little or no experience using AI tools to individuals seeking a deeper understanding of the technology. Organizers say families can expect to leave with practical resources, new knowledge and strategies that can help support student learning both inside and outside the classroom.
The initiative also highlights Broward County Public Schools’ broader commitment to preparing students for future careers. As AI becomes increasingly integrated into industries across the globe, schools are working to ensure students develop the skills needed to thrive in a technology-driven economy.
With interest far exceeding expectations, district officials note that registration for the event is now closed. The symposium has reached capacity, and the announcement is intended solely for media coverage purposes rather than public promotion.
By bringing families directly into the conversation surrounding artificial intelligence, Broward County Public Schools hopes to build greater understanding of a technology that is rapidly transforming education and reshaping the future workforce.
