Quincy Police Chief Brian Alexander taken into custody on DUI charge after Friday night traffic stop in Gadsden County
Gadsden County, Florida – Quincy Police Chief Brian Alexander was taken into custody Friday night after authorities say he was arrested on a DUI charge following a traffic stop in Gadsden County.
According to Chattahoochee Police Chief Michael Miller, Alexander was traveling along Highway 90 when a Chattahoochee Police Department officer observed signs of possible impairment. The officer then conducted a traffic stop and began a DUI investigation.
During the investigation, authorities said Alexander was asked to complete several field sobriety tests. After the tests were conducted, Miller said Alexander was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence.
Following his arrest, Alexander was transported to the Gadsden County Jail, where he was booked on the DUI charge. He appeared in court for his first appearance Saturday morning and was later released from custody.
The arrest comes only about a month after Alexander began serving as the Quincy Police Chief. He was appointed to the position after the previous police chief was terminated earlier this year.
Before taking over leadership of the Quincy Police Department, Alexander served as the police chief in Gretna. He also spent more than two decades working with the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office, building a long career in local law enforcement.
The incident involving the newly appointed police chief has drawn attention within the local law enforcement community, though officials have not released additional details about the traffic stop or the circumstances surrounding the arrest.
Chattahoochee Police Chief Michael Miller confirmed the arrest but did not provide further information about the ongoing case.
Alexander’s court proceedings will continue as the DUI charge moves through the legal system. As with any criminal allegation, the charge remains pending and will be addressed through the court process.
The Quincy Police Department has not announced any additional information regarding Alexander’s status with the department following the arrest. Further updates may be provided as authorities continue reviewing the matter.
