Pembroke Pines, Florida – The City of Pembroke Pines is once again turning up the volume on community engagement and cultural enrichment this summer with its much-anticipated Summer Symphony Series, a free event featuring live performances by the acclaimed South Florida Symphony Orchestra (SFSO).

From July through September 2025, residents and visitors alike are invited to experience the power of live symphonic music, right in the heart of the city. Hosted at two local venues — the Charles F. Dodge City Center and the Susan B. Katz Theatre of the Performing Arts — the series aims to make classical and contemporary music accessible for audiences of all ages.

“This is one of those special events that really brings people together,” said a city representative. “It’s not just about music — it’s about celebrating community, culture, and the joy of shared experiences.”

The first concert in the remaining lineup, titled Soundscapes of a Nation, takes place Sunday, July 13, from 4 to 6 PM at the Charles F. Dodge City Center, located at 601 City Center Way. Performed by a wind quintet, this performance will guide listeners through the defining moments of American history with music that reflects both triumph and transformation.

The second concert on Sunday, August 17, also from 4 to 6 PM at the Dodge City Center, will feature the SFSO brass quintet. The setlist promises to be a vibrant mix of patriotic melodies, popular tunes, and selections from the lighter side of classical music — ideal for audiences who enjoy a blend of tradition and fun.

Finally, the grand finale takes place Sunday, September 7, again from 4 to 6 PM, but this time at the Susan B. Katz Theatre of the Performing Arts, located at 17195 Sheridan Street. Designed to be especially family-friendly, this concert will include recognizable music from films, cartoons, and other pop culture staples. Whether you’re a lifelong classical music fan or bringing your children to their first orchestra experience, this closing performance promises something for everyone.

Admission to all concerts is completely free, as is parking. There are no tickets required — but those interested in attending should plan to arrive early, as seating is limited and provided on a first come, first served basis.

The South Florida Symphony Orchestra, known for its passionate musicianship and dynamic outreach, has long made it a mission to connect with communities beyond traditional concert halls. This collaboration with Pembroke Pines is part of that mission — blending high-caliber music with a laid-back, local setting.

The summer series reflects a larger goal shared by both the City of Pembroke Pines and SFSO: to bring the arts closer to the people, and to ensure music is not seen as an exclusive experience, but one that is open and welcoming to all.

As one attendee from a past summer concert remarked, “It’s amazing to have this kind of music right here in our backyard. And the best part? It’s free. There’s really no excuse not to come.”
