West Palm Beach, Florida – On Friday, August 8, 2025, the City of West Palm Beach celebrated the official launch of its first-ever Interactive Kiosk Experience (IKE) kiosks, a groundbreaking move to enhance connectivity and provide dynamic public information. The unveiling took place at a ribbon-cutting ceremony that marked a milestone in the city’s vision to blend innovation with community engagement.

The new digital kiosks, installed in bustling pedestrian zones around downtown West Palm Beach, bring the latest in smart city technology to residents and visitors alike. These sleek and ADA-compliant kiosks offer real-time, location-sensitive details, enabling users to navigate the city’s streets, uncover local businesses, and access essential services with ease.

Jibran Shermohammed, Vice President of Development and Corporate Counsel at IKE Smart City, emphasized the partnership’s transformative potential. “We are excited to launch IKE in West Palm Beach, a thriving city that has become synonymous innovation and opportunity,” Shermohammed said. “The IKE network will enliven sidewalks throughout West Palm Beach, showcase local artists, and support small businesses with free directory listings.”

West Palm Beach’s embrace of this technology places it among more than 20 progressive cities nationwide that have integrated IKE kiosks without imposing costs on their taxpayers. This forward-thinking approach not only modernizes public infrastructure but also strengthens the city’s commitment to accessibility and digital equity.

Mayor Keith A. James expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, highlighting its role in the city’s ongoing revitalization. “As our downtown continues to thrive as a hub for residents, businesses, and visitors alike, we are excited to introduce smart city technology that connects people in meaningful ways,” James stated. “These interactive kiosks are modern-day guides that enhance mobility, share critical city updates, and elevate the overall experience of being in West Palm Beach. With this launch, we’re reaffirming our commitment to innovation, access, and building a truly people-first city.”

Each kiosk features dual-sided touchscreens and a suite of interactive applications designed to serve a diverse, multilingual audience. Beyond simple navigation, users can find hyper-local information about nearby dining, upcoming events, transit schedules, and public safety alerts. The kiosks also provide free public WiFi, creating an added convenience for those on the go.

Moreover, the kiosks are more than just practical tools; they also serve as vibrant community canvases. They display rotating public artwork, community messages, and vital safety information, enriching the pedestrian experience while reinforcing a sense of place and civic pride.

The installation of these kiosks is a key element of West Palm Beach’s broader smart city strategy, which aims to harness data-driven solutions to improve quality of life. The project demonstrates the city’s dedication to making technology accessible to all, while fostering economic vitality by spotlighting small businesses and local talent.

In summary, the IKE kiosks offer a powerful blend of technology and community focus. They transform sidewalks into interactive spaces that not only guide people but also inform, entertain, and connect. As West Palm Beach continues to grow as a vibrant urban center, these digital kiosks stand as a testament to the city’s commitment to innovation and inclusion.

This launch heralds a new chapter for West Palm Beach, where technology meets public service in the heart of the city — making everyday experiences smarter, safer, and more enjoyable for everyone.
