Pembroke Pines, Florida – The City of Pembroke Pines has brought new color and creativity to its streets with the unveiling of five newly wrapped traffic boxes, featuring winning poster designs from past City Art Festivals. Completed in September, the project is part of the city’s ongoing effort to incorporate public art into everyday spaces and to transform ordinary infrastructure into engaging works of art.

The newly wrapped boxes are spread across the city, showcasing the talents of artists whose work has previously been recognized in the annual Festival of the Arts. The installations include:

• “Heads Up Tammy Seymour” by 2020 Poster Winner Tammy Seymour, located at Hiatus Road and Sheridan Street.
• “Marbles” by 2021 Poster Winner Ana Aguerrevere, at Taft Street and Hiatus Road.
• “Scarf Dancer” by 2022 Poster Winner Judy Nunno, placed at Dykes Road and NW 12th Street.
• “Guardian of the Ethereal Garden” by 2024 Poster Winner Larissa Meek, at 172nd Avenue and 9th Street.
• “Pedro the Parrot” by 2025 Poster Winner Seke, located at SW 14th Street and 184th Avenue.

“These traffic boxes are small but visible parts of our community,” city officials said. “Wrapping them in art allows us to add life to areas residents and visitors might otherwise overlook during busy days.”

The featured artwork reflects the City of Pembroke Pines’ commitment to public art as a tool for community engagement. By transforming utilitarian objects into canvases, the city aims to foster creativity, dialogue, and a sense of identity among its residents. Each piece represents a unique vision and celebrates the diversity and vibrancy of the community.

“Pedro the Parrot” by Seke has been selected as the official Poster Winner for the upcoming Pembroke Pines Festival of the Arts, scheduled for November 8–9, 2025. The selection underscores the city’s dedication to highlighting local talent and creating opportunities for artists to connect with the community.

The City of Pembroke Pines encourages residents and visitors to explore these new installations and to take part in the ongoing celebration of public art. “Public art allows us to see familiar places in a new light and connects people through creativity,” city officials said. “It’s a simple but powerful way to strengthen community identity.”

In addition to the traffic box project, the city maintains a wide range of public art initiatives, all designed to make the city more vibrant and welcoming. Residents can explore all current and upcoming projects on the city’s public art page at www.ppines.com/publicart.
