Secretary Byrd announces the launch of the Florida Main Street app to help residents and visitors explore local businesses and events
Tallahassee, Florida – As holiday travel ramps up for Thanksgiving and Small Business Saturday, Florida’s visitors and residents now have a new tool to navigate the state’s vibrant Main Street communities. Secretary of State Cord Byrd announced the launch of the Florida Main Street app, designed to highlight local businesses, events, and points of interest across the state. The app aims to make exploring Florida easier, more engaging, and more personalized than ever before.
“The Florida Main Street App invites users to personalize their travel experience by building a dynamic itinerary to explore restaurants, businesses, parks, theaters, murals and historic sites in Florida’s Main Street Communities,” Secretary Byrd said. “This app is a great tool to promote Florida’s Main Street Communities and connect users with unique shopping and dining experiences during the holiday season and beyond.”
The app allows users to search for specific categories, including lodging, shopping, services, and food and drink. Activity options such as concerts, parades, golf courses, and special events are also displayed within the platform. Event listings provide essential details like dates, times, locations, and brief descriptions, ensuring travelers can plan outings with confidence. Additionally, the app features information about landmarks and cultural points of interest, helping visitors uncover hidden gems and explore Florida’s rich history.
Looking ahead, enhancements are already planned to expand the app’s offerings. Upcoming features include themed tours covering topics such as America250FL, barbeque, breweries, cafés, and coffee shops. These specialized tours are expected to appeal to both residents and tourists seeking curated experiences that combine culture, dining, and entertainment.
Florida Main Street communities are home to a thriving network of businesses. Currently, there are more than 3,600 active businesses and 983 restaurants participating in these communities. The Florida Department of State expressed gratitude to the 52 Main Street communities across the state for their commitment to preserving local history and culture while welcoming visitors to experience Florida’s unique heritage.
By providing a digital platform to explore these communities, the Florida Main Street app aims to support local economies, encourage tourism, and celebrate the diverse cultural fabric of the state. Whether planning a weekend getaway, a day trip, or a holiday shopping spree, users can create personalized itineraries that showcase the best each town has to offer.
The app is now available for download on both the App Store and Google Play. Visitors can find additional information, including a QR code for quick download, on the Florida Main Street website. By making it easier to navigate and discover Florida’s Main Street communities, the app seeks to enhance local engagement and ensure that residents and tourists alike can experience everything from small boutiques and family-run cafés to historic sites and lively cultural events.
With the launch of this innovative app, Florida continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting small businesses, promoting tourism, and providing tools that make exploring the state convenient, informative, and enjoyable for everyone.
