West Palm Beach announces city closures and adjusted schedules in observance of the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays

West Palm Beach, Florida – West Palm Beach city officials have announced closures and adjusted service schedules for the upcoming Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays, giving residents ample time to plan for city services during the festive season. City Hall, the Mandel Public Library, Grassy Waters Preserve Nature Center and Cypress Boardwalk Trail, along with all non-essential city services, will be closed on Thursday, December 25, and Friday, December 26, 2025, in observance of Christmas, and again on Thursday, January 1, 2026, for New Year’s Day.

City Hall will reopen at 8 a.m. on Monday, December 29, following the Christmas holiday, and will resume operations at 8 a.m. on Friday, January 2, after the New Year’s Day closure. The Mandel Public Library will close early at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, December 24, and reopen at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 27. For the New Year’s holiday, the library will close early at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31, and reopen at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, January 2.

Outdoor enthusiasts visiting the Grassy Waters Preserve Nature Center and Cypress Boardwalk Trail will also experience closures at the Nature Center and Boardwalk but will still have access to other trails during the holiday period. The center and boardwalk will reopen at 8 a.m. on Saturday, December 27, following Christmas, and again at 8 a.m. on Friday, January 2, after New Year’s Day. All other trails will remain open to the public throughout the holidays.

City officials have also detailed the adjusted trash and recycling schedules. On Christmas Day, residential trash collection and recycling services will not operate, resuming on the next scheduled service day. Bulk and yard waste collection, as well as commercial services, will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week. For New Year’s Day, residential trash service will again be suspended, while recycling will continue on schedule.
