Authorities issue traffic advisory ahead of Stonewall Pride Parade on June 20 warning
Fort Lauderdale, Florida – The upcoming Stonewall Pride Parade is set to bring major traffic changes to the area on Saturday, June 20, as officials prepare for large crowds and staging activity ahead of the event in Wilton Manors. While the parade route itself will remain fully inside Wilton Manors, nearby road closures will extend into parts of Fort Lauderdale due to setup and staging needs.
Local authorities have issued a traffic advisory covering a wide time window, from 4 a.m. to 11 p.m., warning drivers to expect delays and detours throughout the day. Officials are urging residents, commuters, and visitors to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and consider alternate routes where possible.
One of the main impacts will be along NE 4th Avenue, where all lanes will be closed except the far left southbound lane. This closure will stretch from NE 16th Street up to the bridge, significantly reducing traffic flow in the area for most of the day. Drivers passing through this corridor are expected to experience slow movement and possible backups, especially during peak hours.

Another key disruption will affect NE 16th Street. All lanes will be closed between NE 5th Terrace and NE 4th Avenue, further limiting access to surrounding streets and increasing pressure on nearby detour routes. With multiple closures happening at the same time, traffic patterns in the area are expected to shift heavily throughout the day.
Officials note that these restrictions are necessary to ensure safe staging operations for the Stonewall Pride Parade, which remains one of the region’s major annual events celebrating community and inclusion. Although the closures are temporary, they are expected to have a noticeable impact on local traffic flow during the full advisory period.

Drivers unfamiliar with the area are especially encouraged to avoid the affected roads entirely if possible. Navigation apps and local traffic updates may help reduce delays, but congestion is still expected due to the scale of the closures.
