Pompano Beach City Commission schedules special meetings in September to discuss budgets millage rates and public input opportunities

Pompano Beach, Florida – The Pompano Beach City Commission will convene two Special Meetings this month to review and discuss the city’s proposed budgets and millage rates for the upcoming fiscal year. Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to attend these sessions, which are scheduled for Monday, September 15, 2025, and Monday, September 22, 2025, both beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the City Commission Chambers at 100 West Atlantic Boulevard.

At both hearings, the public will have the opportunity to voice opinions and provide input regarding the proposed budgets for the City of Pompano Beach as well as the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Special District. These sessions are designed to ensure transparency and allow residents to engage directly with city leadership on matters affecting local finances and services.

The first budget hearing on September 15 will include several key actions by the City Commission. Officials will adopt the final fire assessment fees for Fiscal Year (FY) 2026, a step that directly affects property owners and ensures the city’s fire services are adequately funded. Additionally, the Commission will adopt tentative millage rate resolutions for FY 2026, establishing the preliminary property tax rates necessary to support city operations and capital projects. The first hearing will also include the adoption of the tentative budgets for FY 2026 for both the City and the EMS Special District, setting the framework for planned expenditures in the coming year.

During the second budget hearing on September 22, the City Commission will take the final steps in approving the city’s financial plans. This meeting will include the formal adoption of the final millage rate resolutions for FY 2026, solidifying the property tax rates that will take effect. The Commission will also approve the final budgets for both the City and the EMS Special District, providing clarity on funding allocations for city departments and essential services. Another significant item on the agenda will be the adoption of the FY 2026–2030 Capital Improvement Plan, outlining long-term investments in infrastructure and community projects that will guide development and city services for the next five years.

City officials emphasize that public participation is a vital part of the budget process. These hearings provide a platform for residents to ask questions, share concerns, and contribute to discussions on how city funds are allocated.
