Fort Lauderdale issues traffic advisory for Davie Boulevard and SE 3rd Avenue closures scheduled from July 10 through July 13 due to sewer work
Fort Lauderdale, Florida – Drivers in parts of Downtown Fort Lauderdale and Poinciana Park should prepare for major traffic disruptions next weekend as the city moves forward with continuous sewer infrastructure work that will impact several key roadways.
Officials announced that 24-hour sewer work will take place from 6 p.m. on Friday, July 10, through 6 a.m. on Monday, July 13, resulting in full and partial road closures across the area. The project is part of ongoing utility maintenance aimed at improving the city’s sewer system, but it will temporarily reshape traffic flow for several days.
One of the most significant impacts will be felt along Davie Boulevard, where all lanes between SE 3rd Avenue and SE 4th Avenue will be closed for the duration of the work. Drivers normally using this corridor are being advised to seek alternate routes, as no through traffic will be permitted through the affected section.
Additional closures will affect nearby streets as well. The northbound lanes of SE 3rd Avenue between SE 14th Street and SE 11th Street will also be shut down, limiting access in the surrounding neighborhood grid. These restrictions are expected to create delays and detours throughout the weekend.
City officials also confirmed a turning restriction that may further affect traffic movement in the area. No left turns will be allowed from eastbound Davie Boulevard to northbound SE 3rd Avenue, a change likely to impact drivers trying to navigate between major connecting roads.
Although the closures will be inconvenient for motorists, officials say the around-the-clock schedule is necessary to complete the sewer project efficiently within a short timeframe. Working continuously through the weekend is intended to minimize the total duration of disruption, even if it means temporary inconvenience for residents and commuters.
The affected area includes both residential streets and commuter routes, meaning both local drivers and through traffic are expected to feel the impact. City officials are encouraging motorists to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use alternate routes when possible during the closure period.

As the weekend approaches, officials emphasize patience and caution in and around construction zones, noting that crews will be working continuously to complete the necessary infrastructure upgrades as quickly and safely as possible.
