Weston, Florida – Residents and visitors planning to celebrate the Independence Day holiday in Weston are being encouraged to prepare for temporary park closures, restricted access to recreational facilities, and traffic disruptions taking place on July 3 and July 4. With thousands expected to attend holiday events across the city, officials are urging the public to allow extra travel time, arrive early when possible, and be aware of changing traffic patterns throughout the weekend.

The holiday schedule begins on Friday, July 3, when city parks will close earlier than usual. Most public parks across Weston will shut their gates at 6 p.m., giving city crews time to prepare for evening festivities. The only exception will be Weston Regional Park, which will remain open for the community’s annual fireworks celebration.

Even though the park will welcome spectators later in the evening, several of its facilities will be unavailable throughout the day as staff members transform the venue into a safe and organized event space. Visitors should expect restricted access to the Community Center, while baseball fields 1, 2, 3, 4, and 8, along with soccer fields 1 and 2, will not be accessible. Park shelters will remain open for public use during the day, although they cannot be reserved for private gatherings.

Motorists traveling near Weston Regional Park on Friday evening should also expect slower traffic as crowds begin arriving for the fireworks display. Between 5:30 p.m. and 10 p.m., intermittent traffic delays are anticipated along Saddle Club Road and South Post Road, particularly near the park entrance. Drivers and cyclists are encouraged to use caution, remain patient, and consider alternate routes if they are not attending the event.

Holiday activities continue early Saturday morning with the city’s Fourth of July 5K Run/Walk, an event that traditionally draws runners, walkers, volunteers, and spectators to the Weston Town Center area.

From 6 a.m. until approximately 8:30 a.m., several streets will experience closures or restricted access while participants make their way along the race course. Bell Tower Lane, Bonaventure Boulevard, Town Center Circle, Town Center Boulevard, Three Village, Market Street, and portions of Indian Trace will all be affected. Westbound traffic on Indian Trace will be completely closed during the event.

Businesses in and around Weston Town Center will remain accessible, but drivers should expect delays. Access to neighborhoods and commercial properties, including Mariposa, 10X Weston, Weston Town Center, and Publix, will be intermittent during the race. Throughout the event, vehicles entering Town Center will only be permitted through the Bonaventure Boulevard entrance.

While race-related traffic should ease later in the morning, preparations for another major community tradition will soon begin.

The City of Weston Fourth of July Hometown Parade is scheduled to take place between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Although the parade officially begins later in the morning, traffic impacts are expected to start around 8:30 a.m. as barricades are installed and participants assemble.

Drivers can expect significant changes throughout the Town Center area. Northbound traffic on Town Center Boulevard will be affected between Town Center Circle and Three Village Road, while southbound lanes from Indian Trace to Town Center Circle will also experience closures.

Three Village Road will be closed eastbound between Town Center Boulevard and Bonaventure Boulevard. During portions of the parade, the roadway will be completely closed in both directions to safely accommodate spectators gathered along both sides of the street.

Additional closures will affect Bonaventure Boulevard, where southbound traffic between Three Village Road and Bell Tower Lane will not be permitted while parade activities are underway.

Visitors planning to watch the parade from Weston Town Center should make parking arrangements well in advance. Access to the shopping district, including Publix, will become increasingly limited as the morning progresses. From approximately 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., vehicle access to Town Center will be heavily restricted during the parade, with only limited entry available earlier as event preparations continue.

City officials recommend arriving well before the festivities begin if planning to park on-site for the parade. Early arrival will help reduce delays and make it easier to secure parking before road closures are fully implemented.

With fireworks, athletic events, and the annual hometown parade all packed into the holiday weekend, city leaders are encouraging everyone to plan ahead, follow posted detours, and allow extra travel time. By preparing in advance and staying aware of temporary road closures and park restrictions, residents and visitors alike can spend less time navigating traffic and more time enjoying Weston’s Independence Day celebrations.
